Local-first
Your notes live on your machine. Your AI works there too.
MDDock is local-first: every note is a plain Markdown file on your disk. You own the data, you choose where it syncs, and AI still gets rich context — without sending your vault to the cloud.
What local-first really means
Plain files, no lock-in
Everything is .md in a folder you control. Switch tools, back up with git, or sync with Dropbox — your notes are always portable.
You choose the sync
No forced cloud. Use iCloud, Dropbox, Syncthing, git, or MDDock's optional cloud sync. Your files, your rules.
AI that reads locally
Search, recall, and chat run against your local index. The cloud only handles sign-in and optional sharing — never the content of your private notes.
