Bear migration

Move from Bear to MDDock — keep the themes, own the .md files.

Bear's reading themes are gorgeous but your notes live inside an iCloud-locked SQLite database — not a portable plain file. MDDock ships 13+ reading themes and stores every note as a plain .md file on disk, so you can sync however you want, back up with git, and read the same notes on Windows. Move from Bear in minutes via the Markdown export — the writing style you love survives the trip.

Why Bear users migrate to MDDock

AI that actually reads your notes

Bear ships zero AI. MDDock gives you hybrid recall, semantic search, and AI chat that read your local Markdown — so when you ask 'what did I think about that book last summer?' you get an answer citing the exact note you wrote in Bear, not a generic web summary.

Plain .md on disk, not SQLite

Bear stores everything in an iCloud-locked SQLite database. MDDock gives every note a home as a plain .md file in a folder you control — back up with git, sync with iCloud or Dropbox or Syncthing, ship with your repo. No lock-in, no proprietary blob.

Cross-platform, not Apple-only

Bear is iOS and macOS only. MDDock runs on macOS, Windows, and iOS with the same themes, the same file format, and the same AI. Install the Agent skill for Claude Code or Cursor on your Mac and your AI sees the same notes Bear did on your iPhone.

Bear is elegant and Apple-only. MDDock is elegant and cross-platform.

Download MDDock

Free macOS DMG and Windows installer. The macOS build is signed and notarized so Gatekeeper stays quiet.

Export your Bear notes

In Bear: File → Export Notes → choose 'Markdown Files' and pick a folder. Bear creates one .md file per note.

Open the folder in MDDock

Use File → Open Folder and select the exported Bear folder. Every note opens with its tags, attachments, and timestamps intact.

Start writing with AI memory

Open the AI sidebar and ask MDDock about a topic. It cites the exact note you wrote in Bear, not a generic web answer.

MDDock is not affiliated with Bear. Bear is a trademark of its respective owner.
