Frequently asked questions
Which Office formats can MDDock handle?+
Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx) and PowerPoint (.pptx). Import them into your vault as Markdown, and export your notes back to real Office files or PDF when you need to share with the Office world.
Does formatting survive the round trip?+
Headings, tables, images, lists and formulas are preserved through import and export. The goal is a faithful round trip: a .docx you export opens in Word or WPS looking the way your note looked in MDDock.
Can I import my existing Word documents?+
Yes. Point MDDock at a folder of .docx files and they become plain Markdown files in your vault — searchable, linkable, and editable like any other note. The originals stay untouched.
Can I export slides and spreadsheets too, or just documents?+
All three ways. A note can become a .docx report, an .xlsx sheet with working formulas, or a .pptx deck — and MDDock can also present a Markdown file as slides directly, no PowerPoint needed.
Does it work with both Microsoft Office and WPS?+
Yes. Imports and exports use the standard OOXML formats (.docx/.xlsx/.pptx), so files open correctly in Microsoft Office, WPS Office and LibreOffice alike.
